Arsenal confirmed team vs FC Nurnberg as William Saliba starts but Kai Havertz on the bench
William Saliba makes his return to the Arsenal side for their pre-season friendly with FC Nurnberg. The French international has been out since March with a back injury, but has been passed fit enough to start after progressing in training.
There had been suspicions that Kai Havertz may join him in the starting XI, but the German will have to wait for his full Arsenal debut. He is among the substitutes in Germany.
Absent from the squad altogether are Takehiro Tomiyasu and Alex Zinchenko as they continue to recover from injuries that saw them miss the back end of last season.
Jakub Kiwior continues at left-back meanwhile, with Kieran Tierney among the substitutes amid question marks over his future. He is joined by returning loan trio Cedric, Auston Trusty and Folarin Balogun.
Youngsters Ethan Nwaneri, Reuell Walters and Myles Lewis-Skelly are also among the subs along with Karl Hein. Aaron Ramsdale meanwhile makes his return to the starting XI.
