Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for a number of strikers just 11 days into the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta's side have struggled in front of goal in recent weeks and fans have demanded the club go out and sign a new forward.
Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Dominic Solanke and Borja Mayoral have all been touted as potential targets for the Gunners this month. However, Arteta has been clear that the club's chances of signing a new striker are 'unrealistic'.
Asked whether a new striker could be signed in January, Arteta told BeINSports: «At the moment it does not look realistic. What my job is, and what we have to do is improve our players and try to get better results with the players we have.
»One thing is what we need and another is what we can do. What we need to do now is stick behind those players, give them some love, train them and make sure they visualise something very different to what is actually happening now.
«They’ve done it. We’re not going to reinvent the wheel, because they’ve done it.»
The Gunners are facing limitations on their spending in the transfer market this month following their £200million spending spree in the summer. Arsenal are aware they must remain within the Financial Fair Play (FFP) guidelines, but the need for a new striker is glaring everyone in the face.
