Arsenal face a nervous wait on Jurrien Timber's knee injury after he was forced off during their Premier League opening weekend clash with Nottingham Forest.
The Dutch international went down initially after a clash with Brennan Johnson just on the stroke of half time. He received extensive treatment before the break, but returned for the second half. Just minutes into the second period though he collapsed to the ground despite not coming into contact with anyone else on the pitch before limping off.
Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta revealed that both his medical staff and the player had felt it was right for Timber to go back out for the second half. «The doctors looked at him and they were happy for him to continue, he was as well,» the Spaniard said.
«Straight away in the first action of the second half he made a movement and it was a bit funny. We took him out straight after and now we have to assess him and see what he has.»
The 22-year-old has gone for scans on the injury on Monday and is continuing to be assessed, football.london understands. There are concerns that the injury could be a serious one. Arsenal, however, are wary of making any hasty conclusions on the extent of the problem as knee injuries can take a longer time to diagnose than other parts of the body.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus is progressing well from his own knee injury. The Brazilian had surgery on a problem related to the injury he suffered while on World Cup duty with Brazil last November, but is hopeful of being back fit by next month.
