Arsenal flop Matteo Guendouzi branded 'good for nothing' by Serie A hard man

Arsenal's former prospect Matteo Guendouzi has come under fire from Serie A's notorious tough guy Radja Nainggolan who slammed the midfielder as «useless» and an «idiot».

Once seen as a potential star for Arsenal, Guendouzi's career hasn't quite taken off as expected. After leaving the Gunners for Marseille in 2022, he's now on loan at Lazio, where his performances have failed to impress Nainggolan, the ex-Roma and Inter bruiser.

Nainggolan didn't hold back in his assessment of the 24-year-old Frenchman, telling Controcalcio: «Guendouzi is good for nothing. He only knows how to run. He is an idiot.»

The Belgian went on to question Lazio's decision-making, asking in a perplexed manner: «Lazio gave away [Sergej] Milinkovic and replaced him with Guendouzi?»

He further questioned Guendouzi's fit at a club like Lazio, which is aiming high in Serie A. «What's the point of having him? He's not a quality player. He shouldn't even be in a team of Lazio's calibre,» the 35-year-old added.

Nainggolan continued his critique by comparing Guendouzi unfavourably to other players in the league. He concluded: «In his place, I would easily take [Alfred] Duncan from Fiorentina. Guendouzi is not a strong player, he's average I can name at least 12 other players better than him in Serie A.
