Brazil boss Fernando Diniz has explained his reasons for calling Gabriel Jesus up to the Brazil national team for the upcoming November international break, despite the Arsenal star being injured. The striker has impressed yet again this campaign when starting up front.
The latest of which was a Champions League clash with Sevilla, where two moments of brilliance saw the Gunners take full control of the tie. An assist for Gabriel Martinelli was followed up by Jesus himself working from the left flank, beating several players before curling home the winner.
It was a huge moment forMikel Arteta as it has put his team into the box seat when it comes to the possibility of qualification to the Champions League knockout rounds. The price was heavy though as his star striker had suffered an injury shortly after his goal that caused plenty of concern.
Discussing the issue after the game, the Spaniard told TNTSports: «He felt something in his hamstring. Let’s see. He straight away asked to be subbed which is not good news because Gabi is not a player that does that at all so we will have to wait to see in the next few days.”
The injury was later confirmed to be one that would keep the striker out for weeks, with no specific time on when he may return to action. Despite that, there were plenty puzzled by the fact that Jesus would later be called up by Brazil for their upcoming international games.
