Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will be hoping to welcome back captain Martin Odegaard for next weekend's Premier League clash with Brentford. The Norway international has been sidelined since the Carabao Cup loss to West Ham, missing the last three games.
Amid an ongoing hip injury, Odegaard missed the Newcastle, Sevilla and Burnley games due to concussion. It has since been confirmed that the 24-year-old took a ball to the face during a training session at London Colney.
As per the concussion rules, players must rest for six days and be symptom free before returning. Odegaard was subsequently left out of the Norway squad this month to allow him to build up his fitness.
Fortunately for Arsenal, it looks like Odegaard has a strong chance in featuring at Brentford on Saturday evening. Norway head coach Stale Solbakken provided an encouraging update on the playmaker's fitness in his pre-Scotland press conference.
«I've just come from a 45-minute talk with Martin. He is getting better and better and gradually stepping up,» he said. «It has been more or less three weeks without any special training, so it is important to take things step by step.
»Both he and Arsenal probably hope that he is available for the Brentford match."

Another player who will be hoping to return to Premier League action next weekend is Gabriel Jesus. The striker went off in the 2-1 Champions League win over Sevilla after clutching his hamstring late on in the game.
