Arsenal make decision over Emile Smith Rowe to Chelsea transfer as talks held

Chelsea have seen an initial approach for Arsenal winger Emile Smith Rowe turned down this summer, reports the Daily Mail, as the transfer window approaches the final few days.

The Blues have been linked with a surprise move for the Hale Ender before the deadline this Friday, with the intentions of adding another attacking option to the squad. The west London club have already invested heavily over the past few months of the window, breaking records along the way to try and bounce back from a poor campaign last time out.

The new ownership at Stamford Bridge had to oversee huge changes as part of a transition period that saw them switch coaches several times and sign several high profile players for big money before finishing 12th in the Premier League. A switch this summer has seen them appoint Mauricio Pochettino in the hopes he will turn things around.

A youth-centric approach has pushed Chelsea's new hierarchy to shelling out nearly £1billion in transfer fees alone, smashing transfer records for both Enzo Fernandez in January and then Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer for a fee worth up to £115million. Despite that spend, it looks unlikely to stop there.

An attacking option has been on the mind of Pochettino, though he has emphasised that someone with Premier League experience would be preferential. «If you bring in a player that is not fit or needs to adapt to the Premier League, maybe you are going to spend the same time you wait for Broja, or Nkunku or Carney [Chukwuemeka],» he told the media last week.
