Arsenal news: Catch up with the latest Arsenal headlines including updates on Kieran Tierney, Folarin Balogun and Ajax winger Mohammed Kudus
Here's your latest Arsenal morning digest on Saturday, August 19.
Rodgers wants Celtic to launch return move for Tierney
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly urging key figures behind the scenes to launch a sensational return swoop for Kieran Tierney amid mounting speculation around his Arsenal future. Newcastle United were thought to be in the market for Tierney before switching their attention to Chelsea prospect Lewis Hall.
Newcastle have since completed a loan move for the versatile defender. It leaves Tierney, 26, with one less option to call upon should he opt to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Reports from Team Talk suggest Rodgers - who headed back to Celtic himself this summer - is determined to snap-up Tierney before the deadline passes. Of course, the 38-cap Scotland international progressed through the system north of the border prior to leaving for Arsenal in a €27million deal in 2019.
Chelsea 'interested' in Arsenal frontman Balogun
It comes after the youngster made an impression during his loan spell with French club Stade Reims last campaign, when and where he was among the top scorers. Over the summer, the striker switched his international allegiances from England to USA, outlining his ambition to play on the biggest stage.
However, upon his return to Arsenal, Balogun faces a whole host of challenges when it comes to getting starts for the club. Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz are still ahead of him in their pecking order, when it comes to that number nine role at the moment.
