Man United pre-season defeat
Arsenal lost their pre-season friendly against Manchester United 2-0, conceding twice in the first half.
The Gunners dominated the lion's share of possession but struggled in front of goal, with Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah both missing golden opportunities either side of half-time. But United were much more clinical in the final third.
The Red Devils' new captain Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock after half an hour with a long-range effort that Aaron Ramsdale will feel that he should have saved. Jadon Sancho then doubled their lead, capitalising on an error from Gabriel Magalhaes.
Chelsea join Kudus race
Ajax star Mohammed Kudus has been mooted as a potential transfer target for Arsenal this summer but they may face stiff competition for the Ghana international if recent reports are to be believed.
According to the Athletic, Chelsea have now joined the race to sign the 22-year-old, with the Blues making contact with Ajax to express their interest in the player. Personal terms are said to be close to being agreed.

Arteta on Mount pursuit
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remained coy when asked about his efforts to sign now-Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount during the summer transfer window.
Mount joined United from Chelsea earlier this month, with the Gunners having previously been linked before the England international made the switch up north instead. «We are so happy with the players that we’ve signed and the players that we’ve got in our squad,» Arteta replied when asked about his interest in signing the 24-year-old.
