Arsenal training footage reveals double injury boost as Nuno Tavares is handed new shirt number
Jorginho and Folarin Balogun have both returned to training ahead of Arsenal's first game of the new Premier League season against Nottingham Forest.
The former missed last week's Community Shield penalty shootout win over Manchester City with a slight muscle issue whilst the latter — who continues to be linked with an exit before the summer transfer window closes — hasn't featured for the Gunners since the pre-season win over an MLS All-Stars XI.
Whether either will be in contention to face Forest remains to be seen but footage from the club's 'Inside Training' video showed them taking part in the session alongside the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and youngster Amario Cozier-Duberry.
Despite speculation with regards to their futures Cedric Soares and Albert Sambi Lokonga were also involved in the session as was goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo as he served a timely reminder of his qualities by pulling off a fine double save to deny Rob Holding from close range.
There was also a rather rare sighting of Nuno Tavares and with Jorginho now in possession of squad number 20, the Portuguese full-back had to train with a different number. At first glance, it seemed he was wearing no.29 but as that belongs to summer signing Kai Havertz, no.28 makes a lot more sense.
Having said that, it's unlikely that the defender will be an Arsenal player for much longer as football.london understands that Bundesliga pair Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg have made approaches, although his preference remains to stay in England and move to a Premier League club.
