The 26-year-old has contributed with 27 goals and 12 assists in 114 appearances for La Dea across all competitions, including 10 strikes and four assists in 35 games last season.
Koopmeiners, who has played the majority of his career as a deep-lying midfielder, has transitioned into an advanced midfielder this term and has chipped in with 13 goals and four assists in 36 matches, helping Atalanta progress to the Europa League quarter-finals and Coppa Italia semi-finals.
The Netherlands international is expected to be one of the first names on the teamsheet when Atalanta travel to Anfield for next week's first-leg clash in the Europa League against Liverpool, who are one of a number of clubs said to be interested in the midfielder.
