France Football released the final 30-man shortlist for the 2023 Ballon d’Or last week. The list featuring five players from the Spanish La Liga was headlined by the names of Argentine Superstar Lionel Messi alongside Manchester City's Erling Haaland, both dubbed as favourites to clinch the award.
The shortlist also featured other prominent players, such as Vinicius Jr. from Real Madrid and Karim Benzema from Al Ittihad. However, the absence of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, raised eyebrows and sparked discussions.
While many pundits and journalists seem to lean towards Messi as the top contender for the prize, there is a differing opinion from YouTube sensation Mark Goldbridge, who believes that the Inter Miami captain should not be the deserving recipient of the award.
