In an interview late last night, Vitor Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, made a huge claim that he has another ‘bomb’ player lined up for Barcelona in the future, leading to speculations about a move for Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian.
The 16-year-old attacking prodigy is earning rave reviews in South America for his performances in youth football and has been likened to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi due to the similarities in their style of play.
Nicknamed ‘Messinho’, Estevao is yet to make a senior appearance for Palmeiras, but impressed for the club’s Under-20 side at the Copinha Tournament in the past.
Estevao has been on Barcelona’s radars, but according to a fresh update from Toni Juanmarti, the La Liga champions are not thinking about a move for the 16-year-old wunderkind at this point in time.
Barça have very good reports on the Palmeiras teenager and are aware that he is bound to make it big if he goes on to realise his full potential in the years to come.
However, at this point, the Blaugrana are not thinking about a move for Estevao as the club want to bet on a homegrown talent in the form of Lamine Yamal.
The teenage La Masia ace turns 16 today and is on his way to signing his first professional contract with the club, which is likely to be a three-year deal with an option for two more years.
Yamal is set to be involved in the first-team dynamics next season under Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona plan to bet on him as he is seen as the best youth prospect to emerge out of the academy in recent years.
As such, they do not wish to interfere with his growth and development by bringing in Estevao, who plays in a similar position as Yamal.
