According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are interested in Zinedine Zidane as a potential replacement for Thomas Tuchel should the Bundesliga champions decide to sack the former PSG manager.
Bayern are not yet in a position where they want to dismiss Tuchel as his services as manager as they are operating on a game-by-game basis before making a decision. However, they are discussing alternatives internally, according to Plettenberg. The former Real Madrid manager is one of the names to have been discussed by the board as a potential plan B.
There have been no concrete talks between the Bundesliga club and Zidane, but the Frenchman is appreciated by the club for his experience and aura. The former Real Madrid and Juventus midfielder has also been unemployed since his second stint with Los Blancos meaning he would be available immediately.
Zidane has been waiting for the right opportunity for a while now. The Ballon d’Or winner has previously had the opportunity to manage Marseille, PSG and Algeria in recent times, but has declined all of the advances made to him. Zidane doesn’t speak German but the history of the German club could be an enticing prospect for the Frenchman to get back into management.
