Lisandro Martinez angered Jude Bellingham after a reckless challenge during Manchester United's clash against Real Madrid
Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham is the latest player to take issue with Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez.
The La Liga champions took on United in a pre-season friendly in the United States last night, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Bellingham and Joselu. But the England international was left far from impressed at one point in the match, taking issue with a heavy tackle from Martinez in the first half.
The United centre-back went into a challenge on Bellingham on the halfway line with full force, catching the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder late and getting nowhere near the ball. The talented youngster jumped to his feet and pushed Martinez in anger, admitting after the match he said some unsavoury words to the 25-year-old, who was booked for the foul.
"The little tiff with Martinez is one of those things," Bellingham said after the full-time whistle. "He’s a brilliant player.
"I came in at half-time and I was effing this and effing that. But then he came over to wish me all the best when he came off, and I really respected it.
"I know what goes on the pitch stays on the pitch. I saw him at the end of the game and wished him well. I can respect that when two players are trying to win their team and can come together and be respectful after the game.
"He is a great competitor and a great player. Just like me, he wants to win. Sometimes it spills over. That is part of the game. I am really respectful. We can have that moment after the game."
