Mekelakeya's head coach Gebrekirstsos Birara has been banned for four matches and as such missed the club's clash with title challengers Ethiopia Nigd Bank
Birara's sanction was one of the major decisions of the discipline committee following reports from referees and match commissioners.
Birara was punished because of his behaviour towards Bahir Dar City's head coach Degeareg Yigzaw.
This means that, in addition to the game against Ethiopia Nigd Bank, he will miss other crucial matches with Wolaitta Dicha, St George and Ethiopian Insurance
Binyam Fikre (Wolayita Dicha) and Adnan Reshad (Adama Kenema) were also banned for the same number of four matches.
Both were banned for fighting in the match between Adama City and Wolaitta Dicha which forced the Referee Eyassu Fentie to send off the players.
Aschalew Tamene (Mekelakeya)and Abel Asebe (Dire Dawa City) and Yared Kassaye (Ethiopian Insurance) will miss week 18 matches.
On the club level Wolkite City, Ethiopia Nigd Bank and Dire Dawa City will pay 5000 birr as they each had five players on five yellow cards.
Dire Dawa City were also penalised to pay an additional 25 000 birr due to their fans' behavior in the match against Ethiopia Coffee.
