Brazil begin their 2026 World Cup qualification cycle as they host South American minnows Bolivia in the start of CONMEBOL qualifying.
They are coached by Fernando Diniz, who is making his debut in charge of Brazil, and will lead the nation on an interim basis until Carlo Ancelotti becomes available next summer upon the end of his Real Madrid tenure. Diniz, interestingly, has been allowed to continue as the manager of Brazilian giants Fluminense while he also leads the national team.
Brazil are missing a host of attacking talent, with Vinicius Jr and Antony both absent and Neymar less than fully fit. Yet they are expected to be fine for this game against a Bolivia side that finished near the bottom of the qualifying table in the 2022 cycle.
With the 2026 World Cup featuring an expanded field, CONMEBOL has been afforded two additional qualifying slots, meaning that the top six South American nations will secure automatic qualification, and a seventh will reach the intercontinental playoffs. With so many available berths to the confederation, it's almost a foregone conclusion that both Brazil and Argentina will reach the World Cup while hardly breaking a sweat.
