Brentford boss Thomas Frank makes Ivan Toney goalscoring point amid Arsenal and Chelsea links

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is sure that Ivan Toney will end his goalscoring drought soon amid links to Arsenal and Chelsea.

Toney hasn't scored in his last seven games in the Premier League, which is his longest time without a goal since Brentford got promoted in 2021. After coming back from his gambling ban in January, Toney scored four times in five matches, but since then his only goal has been for England against Belgium from the penalty spot.

The 28-year-old did set up Kristoffer Ajer’s stoppage-time equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United at the weekend, but scuffed his shot when through on goal in the stalemate with Brighton on Wednesday night. But Frank talked about how even great players like Erling Haaland from Manchester City get criticised sometimes, and he thinks Toney will start scoring again soon.

«I think most importantly he is getting on the end of chances,» said Frank. «He had a good chance against Brighton and a few against Manchester United.

Toney has been linked with a summer move away from Brentford this summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the sides reportedly interested in the striker. Toney will have just one year remaining on his contract come the summer.
