Brentford striker Ivan Toney is keen to 'put things right' after his betting ban by securing a spot at this summer's Euros. He scored on his first England start in the friendly draw with Belgium and now wants to make up for lost time.
Toney won and scored a penalty either side of a Youri Tielemans brace for the visitors. The visitors looked set for a Wembley win until Jude Bellingham's last-minute effort secured a 2-2 draw.
This was Toney's full England debut and just his second cap, exactly a year after his first. For most of that year, Toney was out due to suspension, having been banned for eight months for breaching Football Association betting rules.
He returned to action for Brentford in January and has scored four goals for the Bees since then. Meanwhile, England boss Gareth Southgate kept an eye on him.
Toney, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal, said it was hard to watch England games he missed while banned. «But that's done and dusted now. I can't change it,» he said. «There's no point dwelling on something I can't change because it'll just hurt me even more.
