Caoimhin Kelleher sent Celtic transfer endorsement but Liverpool legend has £15m warning for Brendan Rodgers

Caoimhin Kelleher has been told that Celtic could be just the move he needs to become a number one - but whether the Hoops can break the bank for him is another question according to Gary Gillespie.

Brendan Rodgers may be on the hunt for a goalkeeper soon, with Joe Hart's long-term future becoming a talking point with punters. He is out of contract in the summer and turns 37 this year, with Liverpool back-up Kelleher strongly linked as being a man who could arrive in Glasgow to replace the former England international.

Gillespie -who spent nine years at Anfield as a player before spending three with Celtic - insists that the Irish international would benefit from a change in scenery. The Liverpool legend is waiting to see whether his heart rules his head, with other big-spending suitors after Kelleher firmly on his mind. He told the Herald: "That’s always the big issue as well, isn’t it? There will be other clubs down here looking at him with deep pockets, and there are wages to consider as well.

“He won’t be on a pittance, even as a number two goalkeeper at Liverpool, and he will be able to command a really good salary. Liverpool, I am sure, will not want to lose him, so that will be why they are putting such a price on his head. I don’t think he will come cheap. I would be surprised if they can get him even for £15m.

“From what I’ve seen of him, he could be a number one at more than a few clubs in the English Premier League, and given how much of a global business football is now I am sure there will also be clubs from abroad looking at him.
