Every man and his dog has had an opinion on ‘over celebrating’ this week following Liverpool’s loss to Arsenal last weekend.
The Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat to the Gunners at the Emirates as both Mikel Arteta’s side and Manchester City closed the gap on Liverpool at the top of the table to just two points.
But rather than an impressive Arsenal performance being the talking point come the final whistle, instead it was their on-field celebrations after coming out on top in the Premier League six-pointer. Lasting images saw Arteta enthusiastically replicate Jurgen Klopp’s trademark fistpumps celebration and Martin Odegaard celebrate with the Gunners’ photographer.
"Just get down the tunnel, you've won a game," Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher bemoaned on Sky Sports at the time. "It's three points, you've been brilliant. You are back in the title race, get back down the tunnel. I am serious - honestly."
