Osian Roberts has been appointed caretaker manager of Como until the end of the season, with Cesc Fabregas relinquishing the interim role in order to complete his UEFA coaching qualifications.
Fabregas, who is part of the ownership group of the Serie B club, took interim charge last month, stepping up from his head coach role with the Primavera side.
In his brief stint he guided them to third in the table after three wins in five matches.
However, with the 36-year-old still yet to gain his UEFA Pro Licence, it is understood the club are keen for him to continue his role with the youth team this season - though he will also assist Roberts in his new role.
Roberts, who was Patrick Vieira’s assistant during his spell at Crystal Palace until he was sacked earlier this year, has held the position of technical director with both the Moroccan and Welsh FAs.
During his time with Wales, he was part of Chris Coleman’s backroom staff, and continued on when Ryan Giggs took the role.
He will also take on the role of Head of Development at Como beyond the end of this season.
On the appointment of Roberts, Fabregas said: ‘We are so happy to welcome Osian Roberts to our football family. With his exceptional track record in developing players and coaches, we see Roberts as a long-term architect of success across all age groups and levels.
‘We believe that with this appointment we have the right experience to create the blueprint for the ambitious Como playing vision.’
