Chelsea and Tottenham among worst-hit Premier League sides as injuries take toll

Newcastle and Brentford have been hit the hardest by injuries in the Premier League this season, with Chelsea and Tottenham also among the worst-hit sides.

According to stats from Premier Injuries, Newcastle players have missed a whopping 1,333 days combined since the start of the Premier League season on August 11. The Magpies have also had a player sidelined on 29 separate occasions — more than any other team in the league.

Chelsea and Spurs have suffered 27 injuries each, one fewer than Manchester United and Brighton who have each suffered 28 separate injuries. Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have both dealt with 27 injuries too.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is still without Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ryan Gravenberch, and has also had to manage without Mo Salah who got injured during the Africa Cup of Nations last month.

Liverpool have also taken part in 41 matches across all competitions this season, which is the highest number for any club in the Premier League, except for Manchester City — who have also played 41 games.

Wolves and West Ham have had the least number of injuries so far with 13, followed by Bournemouth with 16.

Chelsea are third on the list of injuries when considering days missed with 1,091, with Newcastle and Brentford leading the way.
