Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a major Chelsea fitness boost ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. Both teams have been ravaged by injuries ahead of the clash at Wembley with Jurgen Klopp losing Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson in the weeks leading up to the game.
While much of the focus has been on Liverpool's injuries, the problems in west London have been glossed over despite the fact Pochettino has frequently had at least seven players unavailable for each game.Despite that, a double boost has emerged from the latest sessions at Cobham which could give the Blues some needed defensive reinforcements.
Following on from last weekend's 1-1 draw against Manchester City, Pochettino will likely name a similar starting XI for the final, given it could be a similar game with their opponents likely to dominate possession. With that said, football.london has pulled together everything spotted from the latest Chelsea training pictures from Cobham.
Defensive duo Thiago Silva and Marc Cucurella have both returned to Chelsea training after varying spells on the sidelines due to injury. The Brazil international hobbled off in the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace earlier this month whereas Cucurella has missed the last few months after undergoing ankle surgery.
«Yes, he has a chance. Tomorrow, we will see if he is ready to be involved in the game,» Pochettino revealed in his press conference when asked if Silva could start. Any involvement for Cucurella is extremely unlikely though, given the extended period he has missed.
