Arsenal hope to have both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes fully fit for next weekend's crunch title showdown at Manchester City. Saka was sent home from St George's Park on Thursday by England due to muscle tightness having failed to participate in any of Gareth Southgate's team training sessions. The 22-year-old is now set to work in tandem with Arsenal's medical staff with the hope of resuming training this coming week. Meanwhile, Gabriel is suffering from an inflamed achilles tendon and was therefore excused from Brazil's squad by boss Dorival Junior and replaced by Juventus ' Gleison Bremer. Brazil were using Arsenal's Sobha Realty Training Centre as a base before Saturday's friendly with England but Gabriel has been enjoying some rest to settle the issue.
There is also hope Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey could be involved at the Etihad after both featuring in a 4-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers in a behind-closed-doors friendly in midweek. Tomiyasu, who did not join up with Japan for international duty, played 45 minutes while Partey featured for an hour after Ghana allowed him to stay with Arsenal during the break. Gabriel Martinelli is in a race against time to prove his fitness, however. The jet-heeled winger missed wins over Brentford and Porto before the international break after suffering a gash to his foot in the demolition of Sheffield United. He is understood to have carried out some light training but was spotted on crutches at the Emirates Stadium on the evening Arsenal edged past Porto in the Champions League on penalties. Jurrien Timber is still a little way from a comeback despite returning to training following ACL surgery earlier in the season.
