Luis Garcia is in favour of Liverpool hiring Ruben Amorim as Jurgen Klopp’s successor but another former club midfielder is not so sure.
Amorim has delivered a stern reply in response to false rumours that he had secured a verbal agreement with Liverpool. He told reporters on Thursday: “This is the last time I'm going to talk about my future.
“There was no interview, much less an agreement, the only thing we all want here is to be champions for Sporting, nothing will change. I'm a Sporting coach, there was no interview or agreement with any club, I'm just focused as always on defending my club. As I no longer have anything else to say.”

Garcia says the comments reflect the character he witnessed when completing his coaching badges alongside Amorim a number of years back. The former Liverpool attacker believes that his posture in his latest press conference actually evidences he is the right candidate for the Liverpool job.
Garcia told CBS Sports: “I had the chance of meeting Ruben Amorim on our coaching licence (course) we did together - I can tell you, he is very honest and professional and I think that today proved that.
“For me, I think he’s a fantastic young manager who can bring something different, who had that fantastic league [win in 2021] and a style very similar to Jurgen Klopp has shown us during the last ten years.
“So why not? He’s got the experience of playing in the European competition and also won trophies in Portugal. For me, he's a fantastic candidate for the future of Liverpool.”
