Nicolas Jackson has left Chelsea supporters feeling very excited after another stunning pre-season display for the club.
The 22-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from Villarreal earlier this summer many fans questioning the decision to spend £32million on the player.
However, the pacey striker silenced those critics with a wonderfully taken effort against Newcastle.
Jackson was played through by a glorious pass from Ian Maatsen before using his pace to break free of the defence before delivering a composed finish into the bottom corner of the net.
So far in pre-season, Jackson has played 119 minutes of football, scoring two goals and bagging three assists in matches against Wrexham, Brighton and Newcastle, something that has clearly impressed Mauricio Pochettino.
The new Chelsea boss said: «He is showing his quality, his talent. I think he is good in front of goal, he is very relaxed when given chances and he has shown that in these games.
»So happy, because a striker needs to score for confidence and trust."
He added: «I think he was in La Liga, La Liga is also competitive but he also needs to adapt to the Premier League. The tempo is higher than La Liga, transitions, being connected with the game.
»They are things that make the Premier League one of the best but one of the most competitive and excellent in terms of physicality and conditioning."
Fans are also loving what they are seeing, with one fan declaring: «This guy is the real deal.»
