Chelsea have confirmed that Romelu Lukaku has completed a season-long loan move to Roma. The Belgian forward returns to Serie A having been linked to moves to both Inter Milan and Juventus over the course of the summer.
Lukaku has not trained with Chelsea's first team all summer with the Blues hoping to find a permanent move away from west London after he spent 2022/23 at the San Siro. The Blues relented on their desire to see their £97.5million depart permanently, when coming to agreement over a loan fee that also saw them not have to cover Lukaku's salary.
The 30-year-old is set to wear the No.90 shirt as he links back up with Jose Mourinho, who he has worked with at both Manchester United and Chelsea.
Upon completing the move, Lukaku said: «The welcome I've received from this club and its fans has excited me and given me even more motivation to give my all for my new team. As an opponent, I felt the atmosphere of the Stadio Olimpico, and felt the warmth of the Romanisti,» said Lukaku for the first time as a Roma player.
