There has been plenty of talk about the great deal of turnover Chelsea undertook over the summer. Understandably the focus has predominantly been on the vast number of arrivals, their youth and whether they are ready to help Mauricio Pochettino's side immediately contend for trophies.
The number of players who departed the club were also in double figures, however. While they could not prevent the Blues finishing 12th last term, there were academy products, Champions League winners and Premier League winners among their number and club legends.
It was generally accepted that Chelsea's squad was far too big and, as a result, many players had to move on. In some instances this benefited each party.football.london takes a look at how those players are getting on at their new clubs below.
Edouard Mendy — The Senegal goalkeeper's start at Al-Ahli could not have been much worse when he passed it out to the opposition before being lobbed. However, he has more recently been lifted high by the arms of his teammates having been named man of the mitch in his team's win in the Jeddah derby against Al-Ittihad.
Kalidou Koulibaly — Joined by the likes of Neymar, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic, Koulibaly's Al-Hilal side sit top of the Saudi Pro League after nine matches and remain undefeated.
Mateo Kovacic — In many ways, it was easy to see the Croatian midfielder succeeding at Manchester City given their robotic consistency in recent seasons. Kovacic has performed well alongside Rodri so far this season in Pep Guardiola's midfield but less convincingly without him.
