Chelsea star Cole Palmer breaks silence amid injury scare at Sheffield United

Cole Palmer has responded to Thiago Silva on social media after his injury scare against Sheffield United.

The former Manchester City player was substituted during the second half of Sunday's game at Bramall Lane, leading to concerns that he may have picked up a knock. While his impact against Chris Wilder's side was limited, he set up Madeuke's goal before surprisingly being replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka with Mauricio Pochettino appearing keen for his star man to not pick up an injury.

But the Chelsea boss allied any fears that the 21-year-old was injured, claiming he was taken off due to fatigue. «No, no, no. I think he was tired,» the Argentine said.

»We need to protect him. He got a knock against Manchester United and was a little bit more tired than normal, but we wanted to protect him after scoring the second goal. Trying to avoid a problem for the future."

And Palmer has since responded on social media to a post by Blue centre-back Thiago Silva. «A cruel end for the team. Thank you for joining us one more day,» he said on Instagram. In response, Palmer commented with a blue love heart and muscle emoji.
