Mauricio Pochettino says he has not spoken to Chelsea’s owners for a number of months with his future at Stamford Bridge unclear.
Todd Boehly and BlueCo are set to make a decision on the manager’s future at the end of the season after a languid maiden campaign. The Blues currently sit ninth in the Premier League, three points off a European spot with six matches left to play.
Pochettino has come under increasing scrutiny after Tuesday’s 5-0 mauling by Arsenal, which followed Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat to a tired Manchester City side. That marked Chelsea’s second trip to Wembley this season, having lost to Liverpool in February’s Carabao Cup final.
Cup progress and results against Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have been interpolated by inconsistency throughout the season, and a failure to earn European qualification may leave Pochettino in a vulnerable position.
The Argentine says that he has not been in direct contact with Chelsea’s owners for some time but believes his tenure is not at risk. “To be honest, in the last few months, we didn't cross, or message,” said Pochettino ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.
“We communicated through the sporting directors but nothing has changed. We are not changing my view or my feelings, even in the last few weeks we are not crossing texts.”
