Chelsea could be subject to a raid from Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window if Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquires a stake in the Old Trafford side. The British billionaire tried to buy the Blues last year, but his bid was unsuccessful.
Ratcliffe made a £4.25 billion offer, however his proposal was ruled out by Raine Group, who had already named the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital consortium as the preferred bidder. In an interview with The Times shortly after missing out on the Blues, a spokesman for the Ineos owner confirmed that he would be open to buying the Red Devils.
A year-and-a-half or so later and Ratcliffe is finally set to buy a 25 per cent stake in the 20-time Premier League champions, according to The Sun. The report states that the 71-year-old could acquire his stake as early as next week and immediately take over football operations.
And, it's said that his first major decision could be replacing Erik ten Hag with Graham Potter. The Sun add that Ratcliffe has already met with the former Chelsea manager regarding the first-team head coach role at Old Trafford.
So, with that being said, football.london have taken a look at four players which United could sign from Chelsea if Potter replaces ten Hag in the dugout.
Marc Cucurella
Cucurella almost joined the Red Devils in the summer, but a move collapsed after being selected to play against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup second round – just hours before the deadline. With Levi Colwill clearly favoured by Pochettino while Ben Chilwell is out, the Spaniard faces an uphill battle to secure a place in the starting lineup.
