Fortress Turner's Cross. That's what it's been thus far in the 2024 league campaign, and that's exactly the way Cork City boss Tim Clancy would like to keep it.
In addition, the City faithful have turned up in their thousands to support their new manager and his promotion-chasing charges. That's also exactly the way Clancy would like to keep it.
Their 100 percent win rate at home has them sitting atop the First Division standings as they welcome Athlone Town to Cork on Friday night.
"Please God, there'll be a good crowd there again, as there has been for all the games, and we've got to try and make the home ground as hard a place for other teams to come (as possible)," Clancy told the Irish Examiner at the club's Bishopstown base earlier this week. "If we can go and get three points again on Friday, it would be four (home) wins on the bounce, which is massive for us."
Meath native Clancy also touched on the magnitude of the Easter weekend that lies ahead, with a trip to Wexford coming up on Monday evening.
"We've obviously got a double-header this weekend, so it's a huge few days for us, but it all starts on Friday with Athlone at home."
On Athlone, he continued: "They're conceding goals but I think they're the top scorers in the league as well.... they've been very good in some games and Dario (Castelo) will think they've been a bit off in other games as well. But again, we've got to concentrate on ourselves."
Clancy will be able to call on a fully fit Sean Murray and a suspension-free Barry Coffey for the matchday seven fixture, as well Cian Murphy and Cian Bargary, who both got vital minutes under their belt in last Friday's stalemate at Markets Field.
