Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese's public interest in Tottenham winger Bryan Gil has suggested that the club could have a transfer tug of war on their hands this summer.
The 23-year-old Spain international has started just two matches this season for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou and turned down a loan move to Brighton late in the January transfer window. Gil is expected to move on this summer permanently after loan switches in recent years to Valencia and Sevilla, where he joined Tottenham from in 2021.
His old side are set to be one of the teams that compete for his signature this summer and Te Kloese admitted that Feyenoord have been long-time admirers of the talented young Spaniard.
The Dutchman told Rotterdam media outlet Algemeen Dagblad: «The fact that we are in the race for Gil has been the case for several transfer windows.
»We are looking again at what is possible. We offer a fantastic platform to give boys a good continuation of their career, or to show themselves again. Gil is a good player, but there are many more clubs that are looking at that boy."
The Feyenoord supremo's words suggest that with two years left on his contract, Spurs should be able to get a decent fee for Gil due to the interest in acquiring him for next season. That the player, who only turned 23 two months ago, does not want to move on loan again and has turned down offers to do so will ensure that interested parties know they will have to make a permanent offer to Tottenham for his services.
