Arsenal’s Katie McCabe has revealed Conor McGregor invited her to his Dublin pub this summer after she scored Republic of Ireland’s first ever Women’s World Cup goal.
McCabe scored one of the goals of the tournament when she found the back of the net directly from a corner against Canada but couldn’t prevent Republic of Ireland from being knocked out in the group stages of the tournament.

However, the 28-year-old won plenty of praise for her performances at the World Cup and UFC star McGregor described her goal against Canada as ‘iconic’.
McGregor’s praise didn’t stop there either, as McCabe revealed a special visit to his pub — the Black Forge Inn — and is hopeful of meeting the UFC legend sometime in the near future.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, McCabe said: “Conor invited me and my family to his pub back in Dublin, which was really kind of him and his family to look after us.
“I guess when you’re playing on the world stage, there’s more eyes on you. You’re attracting these high-profile athletes as well. It’s no more than the girls deserve to be playing on those world stages because people have sacrificed a lot, especially the girls on my Ireland team.
“They’ve sacrificed so much to get there and achieve those moments. It’s the beauty of a team sport [as] you’re able to share it together then.
“I haven’t actually met him, no! He was on holiday! So, I didn’t meet him in the end, but I’m sure we’ll cross paths in the next few months, I’m sure.”
