Spain coach Luis de la Fuente revealed at an event at the Alfonso X el Sabio University that there will be players who have never been called up since he took over in his squad list for the March friendlies against Colombia and Brazil.
"There will be some players who have not been in the previous ones, but it is no surprise to me. In my working group, we are very aware of the players, we know what they are contributing and that they have enough quality to demand opportunities that are not given away," he revealed.
"They are earned with their performance, work and professionalism. Someone who deserves to be in the squad will be left out, but we'll try to get the squad right and form a very competitive group against two very high-level opponents. Not only Brazil, but Colombia too. We are looking for a group that is calm and confident," he added.
De la Fuente made it clear that any player who is going to defend the Spanish national team must feel proud to defend the country, minutes after discussing Brahim's decision to play for Morocco.
"Coming to the Spanish national team should be a source of pride, a prize. It means reaching the highest level a footballer can achieve," he said.
