Declan Rice has joked about his British record move to Arsenal from West Ham being almost immediately broken by new Chelsea star Moises Caicedo following the latter's own £115m move from Brighton to London rivals Chelsea.
The Gunners star was instrumental in their hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, which was fraught with controversial penalty shouts and what many Arsenal fans will see as a harsh red card.
Mikel Arteta's side were dominant throughout the first half, although Roy Hodgson's men started off the fastest as they put Aaron Ramsdale under pressure early on. But on the half-hour mark, Eddie Nketiah's toe-poke past Sam Johnstone pinged off the post in what had been the best chance of the half for both sides.
Eventually though the deadlock was broken after halftime, this time some ingenious thinking from Gabriel Martinelli to play a free kick quickly to Nketiah who was tripped by the outstretched gloves of Johnstone. Martin Odegaard stepped up and calmly placed the ball home to give the Gunners the lead.
However, two yellow cards in seven minutes for full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu meant Arteta's side were down to ten men — the first handed to him for time wasting on a throw-in while the second came after he bought down Jordan Ayew after a slight pull on the back of his shirt.
Despite significant pressure, Arsenal managed to handle the Palace onslaught with some smart defensive changes and jumped to third in the table, only behind Manchester City and league leaders Brighton.

After the game, Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones was quick to ask Rice whether he was annoyed that his British record fee of £105m was broken so quickly
