Wayne Rooney endured a losing start to his first match in charge of Birmingham as Morgan Rogers’ last-gasp effort snatched a 1-0 victory for Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
The 21-year-old Rogers had only been on the pitch 13 minutes when he fired home in the 89th minute to earn Middlesbrough a fifth straight Championship win. The result moved Michael Carrick’s side just one point behind his former team-mate Rooney’s seventh-placed City, who lost for a fourth game in a row on the road.
Daniel Farke made a triumphant return to Carrow Road as his Leeds side hit back to record a dramatic 3-2 victory over his former club Norwich.
The Canaries were two goals to the good at the break, with Shane Duffy heading home early on and Gabriel Sara firing in just before the interval. But Duffy scored at the wrong end to bring Leeds back into it just after the hour mark and a late double from Crysencio Summerville turned the match on its head.
