Emmanuel Petit names perfect transfer Arsenal should complete amid Man City battle

Arsenal favourite Emmanuel Petit has admitted he would love to see his former club sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus moved to the Emirates Stadium from City last summer as the Gunners went on to push Pep Guardiola and his star-studded squad all the way in the Premier League title race. It was a double swoop that so nearly back-fired from a City perspective.

However, that has not stopped other players from the treble-winners being tipped to follow Zinchenko and Jesus in the future. Indeed, there has been mounting speculation over Kalvin Phillips.

The rarely-used midfielder joined City from boyhood club Leeds United last summer and has only made five starts for the Premier League champions in all competitions since that £45million switch. Phillips has indicated himself he could soon have a decision to make on his future.

Bernardo is rather more secure in his first-team status at City right now. However, according to Petit, the talented Portuguese would also make a top addition to the Arsenal squad.

The 29-year-old was a shining light for City during their Manchester derby win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. His role in the squad has also taken on added significance this season with City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring) still missing through injury.
