With just over a week to go before the first game of their US pre-season tour, Manchester United face a race against time to get new signings on the plane.
As things currently stand, United, just like last year, will be taking just one new signing on their pre-season tour after completing the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea last week. The midfielder, who made his debut in yesterday's pre-season opener against Leeds United in Oslo, joined the Reds in a deal worth £60million.
Manager Erik ten Hag had made it one of his primary missions to bring in a new midfielder that would add an extra injection of quality and reduce the average age of his options within that area of the team. Mount's arrival, however, is nothing more than just a start.
United need to add more faces to their ranks, but that is, as is the case with every club in the hunt for fresh talent, an easier said than done task. The Reds are currently exploring several avenues and holding multiple discussions to try and get their house in order.

Following the capture of Mount, United now want to wrap up the signings of a first-choice goalkeeper and a striker. Bringing in a new goal-getter was poised to be the Reds' primary focus this summer and that was the area in which most of their summer budget was expected to be invested.
However, David de Gea's departure has meant that United now have the challenge of recruiting a new No.1. Originally, they planned to strengthen their goalkeeping department with the addition of a back-up option this summer; they now need both.
