Erling Haaland named 2022/23 PFA Players’ Player of the Year
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been named the 2022/23 PFA Players' Player of the Year.
Haaland ran riot in his first year in the Premier League, breaking the 38-game season scoring record as he found the back of the net 36 times in just 35 outings.
The Norway international finishes atop a shortlist which also included City teammates Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones, as well as Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard and former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who has departed the Premier League for Bayern Munich.
«It’s an honour to win this prestigious award,» Haaland told club media. «To be recognised by your competitors is a great feeling and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
»It was an unforgettable season for the team and for me personally. Winning the Treble was something I never imagined, so to achieve that with such a special group of players was an amazing feeling.
«John, Rodri, Ruben and Kevin all deserve their place in the Team of the Year and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with this recognition too.
»We created some incredible memories last season, but now we want to do the same again this year. We have started the season well and we need to keep going."
