Everton held on for a deserved away win against West Ham thanks to a Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal in the 51st minute.
With the match goalless at the break, the tie was finely poised after a low-key first half. But the Blues stepped it up and had the better chances as the game wore on.
There were further opportunities to add to the lead through Abdoulaye Doucoure and others, but the solitary strike was enough to register a second away victory of the Premier League campaign for Sean Dyche's men.

Jordan Pickford - 7
Produced a big save to keep out an effort from Said Benrahma in the closing stages and also denied Jarrod Bowen during the opening 45 minutes. Booked as well for clashing with Mohammed Kudus.
Nathan Patterson - 5
It was a really tough afternoon for the full-back. He struggled against Lucas Paqueta, who constantly got the better of him. However, he did stick at it and never let his head drop.
James Tarkowski - 7
Solid performance from the centre-back. Won the aerial battle against Michail Antonio, so much so that the forward was taken off 10 minutes into the second-half.
Jarrad Branthwaite - 8
The young defender just keeps getting better and better. Didn't put a foot wrong from a defensive point of view and made three great tackles inside the opening 15 minutes. Also played a key role in Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goal.
