Everton were stung late on as Brighton grabbed an equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park this afternoon.
The Blues secured an early advantage through Vitalii Mykolenko, who fired his team into the lead inside 10 minutes. Brighton then had a Lewis Dunk goal disallowed for offside in the first half.
But in an end-to-end second period, the visitors stayed patient and eventually got their breakthrough. Kaoru Mitoma's cross was deflected off Ashley Young and beyond Jordan Pickford with 84 minutes on the clock.

Finally beaten by his own man, he did well to claw away a Lewis Dunk free-kick and while he’d have been disappointed to have conceded from the Brighton captain earlier with the equaliser that was disallowed for offside after a VAR check, his handling was assured from then on.
Ashley Young 6
Kept his place after the Carabao Cup recall and competed well against fellow veteran James Milner in what was often a full-blooded contest before unfortunately deflecting dangerman Kaoru Mitoma’s effort past Pickford.
Vitalii Mykolenko 8
Terrific improvisation to score with his right foot via a deflection off Dunk after his initial left foot effort had been blocked and it was just rewards for a bold run as he kept up his recent upturn in form.
