Former Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter has opened up on reports that he was approached by Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season.
Chiefs were heavily linked with former Young Africans coach Nasreddine Nabi at the end of last season after an unsatisfactory campaign under former mentor Arthur Zwane.
However, following complications in negotiations with Nabi, the Glamour Boys were reported to have considered Truter, among others, who was still contracted at Sekhukhune.
The former Moroka Swallows head coach had just made history with Babina Noko after leading them to their first cup final, in the Nedbank Cup and consequently qualified them for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
Truter, in an exclusive interview with Kickoff, has confirmed that he had offers during that time but Sekhukhune were doing well and also he did not want to break a contract with Babina Noko based on principle.
"Look, there were other offers during my time at Sekhukhune but the fact is that I was contracted and couldn't resign and just walk away from a project like that," Truter said exclusively to this publication.
"At that time things were going well at Sekhukhune, so to break contracts is not in my nature, so I've asked for a bit of patience and unfortunately when we did part ways (with Sekhukhune) positions were filled already by the clubs which were talking to me.
"Unfortunately I'm stuck in this position because of me being unwilling to break agreements or contracts," he said.
Truter also clarified reports that the stumbling block for him to move to Amakhosi was a hefty buyout clause on his contract at Sekhukhune.
