A new app has launched in Liverpool where you can meet five people you don’t know for tea.
Timeleft has recently launched in cities around the world, including ours. According to its website, it aims to “create opportunities for the magic of chance encounters.”
Like many matchmaking services, it uses an app but works slightly differently. Rather than matching with individuals or finding specific clubs and activities, Timeleft uses its algorithm to set you up in an “effortless” manner.

After you’ve signed up via the app or its website and set your location, you must complete a personality test. Questions include “are your opinions usually guided by: logic and facts or emotions and feelings” and “what is your best description of an ideal night: well-planned in advance or spontaneous and improvised”.
You are also asked if you prefer meat or vegetarian dishes. Then, after you select a date for your dinner and pay £12.99 for a ticket, you are matched with five other people and given a location to have food in. The dinners always take place on a Tuesday.
Timeleft claims it will connect you with “five compatible guests for an engaging evening” and that 94% of its users find “genuine connections” with their guests. Icebreaker questions are available at the table.
After your evening, you can rate your dining companions. If you both like each other, you unlock the chat feature in the app to stay in touch.
