Liverpool fans were left stunned after it emerged that Mohamed Salah and Alisson were left out of the FIFPRO World XI shortlist.
FIFAPRO have announced the 23-man shortlist for the World XI for 2023 and there are some glaring omissions.
Among those included are Cristiano Ronaldo, who has played in the Saudi Pro League all year, and several Manchester City stars including Ederson, Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva.
Lionel Messi also made it onto the 23-man list while only one Liverpool star was named in Virgil van Dijk.
It has left plenty of Reds fans seething after the glaring omissions of Salah and Alisson.
One fan replied: «No Salah or Alisson is a joke.»
Another wrote: «Just shows how pointless these ‘awards’ are. Ronaldo is playing in a tin pot retirement league whilst Salah is still at the top of the charts in the hardest league in the world.»
A third put: «Best keeper is Alisson period and right wing is Salah PERIOD.»
While another said: «Hahahahhahahahaahaha Ronaldo in those nominations but no Salah after his 2023 numbers again. Makes the whole award a farce quite frankly.»
And this fan posted: «Hahaha ffs Ronaldo!!! And no Salah what a joke.»
There was quite the case for Salah to make the final shortlist after a fine 2023 after a stunning year.
Last year, Salah was the only player in Europe's big five leagues to register more than 15 goals and 15 assists, ending the year with 24 goals and 15 assists — a total of 39 goal involvements in the league.
That made him the first Premier League player to achieve the feat since Thierry Henry in 2003.
