Feyenoord dish out thumping as Celtic watch Champions League rivals go for the jugular with six goal blitz
Feyenoord have sent a clear message to Celtic by hitting Eredivisie opposition with a six goal blitz.
It comes as De Kuip get ready to take on Brendan Rodgers and co under the lights in Rotterdam in the Champions League on Tuesday, with the Scottish champions also flexing their muscles against Dundee with three goals at Parkhead. David Turnbull, Kyogo and Matt O'Riley sealed the three points for Rodgers' men as the Irishman gets ready to embark on another Euro mission in Glasgow. But the Dutch champions are no mugs and gave Celtic a glimpse of their might by smashing their opposition by six goals to one.
Inside 20 minutes, Feyenoord were three goals up before top star Santiago Giminez got in on the act but the Mexican is suspended for the visit of Celtic in midweek. The Rotterdam outfit then hit two more after conceding one in the first half as the game came to a close, marking their biggest ever win against Heerenveen in the fixture's history with Minteh and Lingr adding to the misery of the opposition. It's Feyenoord's seventeenth goal in just three games as they prepare to do battle on Europe's biggest stage.
And De Kuip also got through the game unscathed with no fresh injuries to report despite missing a few bodies. The same could not be said for Celtic as debutant Nat Phillips was forced off after 45 minutes, while Kyogo recovered from a shoulder issue to finish the game.
