Newcastle beat Manchester United last weekend with a goal from Anthony Gordon, but despite the joy of victory Eddie Howe's side received some bad news.
Magpies goalkeeper Nick Pope suffered a shoulder injury and could be out of action for 4-5 months, which could lead the St James' Park side to consider a January transfer window signing.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been one of those linked with the Magpies as the Spanish keeper has been without a club since leaving the Red Devils last summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe also has the option of relying on the three goalkeepers he has available after Pope. Former Liverpool player Loris Karius, Mark Gillespie or Martin Dubravka, who replaced Pope in the match against Manchester United, are the other three options available to Newcastle should they fail to sign a goalkeeper.
