A study shows that Arsenal and Manchester United have the higher figure of supporters who leave games early and Dimitar Berbatov was on hand to mock those who left Sunday's game before the end
Arsenal continued their impressive start to the 2023/24 season on Sunday with a thrilling 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.
Rice's goal came in the sixth minute of added time when he smashed the ball under Andre Onana from close range. Jesus made sure of the three points and sent the Emirates Stadium into frenzy with a well-taken strike in the 101st minute.
Following Rice's first goal for the club, Sky Sports cameras showed many Arsenal supporters outside the ground celebrating having left early. And outside the stadium, former Tottenham Hotspur and Man United striker Dimitar Berbatov was on hand to surprise supporters with the number 90 Betfair bus for supporters who left early.
Berbatov's involvement comes as part of Betfair's new 90 minute payout which sees winning bets paid out when a game reaches 90 minutes, regardless of what happens in added time. And the Bulgarian has defended supporters who leave games early.
"I can understand why fans leave early," he told Betfair. "This is something Arsenal and Man United supporters are doing and I've done it myself when I go to watch games. You want to beat traffic but sometimes you can miss goals after 90 minutes."
In a video posted by Betfair on Wednesday, footage shows Berbatov reacting to Rice's winner. The former United star cracks a small smile and shakes his head before welcoming the supporters that have left late onto the number 90 bus.
