Frank Lampard and Alan Shearer agree on Mauricio Pochettino problem that cost Chelsea dearly

Frank Lampard and Alan Shearer have pinpointed exactly where Chelsea went wrong against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final. Mauricio Pochettino's side crafted numerous opportunities to take the lead at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but the reigning champions prevailed.

Bernardo Silva finally broke the deadlock in the final minutes of the clash after latching onto a deflected cross by Kevin De Bruyne. Despite carving Manchester City open on several occasions, the Blues managed just five shots on target and never found the breakthrough.

Speaking on the BBC after the game, Lampard and Shearer claimed that Chelsea played well enough to 'comfortably' book themselves a place in the final. The west London outfit's all-time top goalscorer said: «You look at the game and the way City have played – a tough game for City – I think for Chelsea it was a good time to play City and a good chance to get to the final of the cup.

»Chelsea played really well, defended really well, created enough chances to win the game comfortably, and then when you don’t take those chances you get the feeling and see it time and time again, that something can happen.

«A team the level of City need only one moment. It’s a typical City goal — Kevin De Bruyne run, wingers make the back post and score a really simple goal. It will be a big disappointment from Chelsea in that respect, it was an opportunity today.»

Singing from the same hymn sheet, Shearer also noted the number of 'really good chances' that Chelsea enjoyed. The former Newcastle United striker said: «Pep [Guardiola] will be very proud of his players after what happened in midweek, for them to come here and find a way to win this game.
